Tropical Storm Irma Update

posted on

Tropical Storm Irma continues to track on a more western course than originally anticipated resulting in much of our service area being placed under a tropical storm warning. According to current forecasts, sustained winds could range from 35-45 mph with gusts as high as 65 mph. Winds of this speed can cause downed power lines, downed trees, broken limbs, and broken poles, causing widespread outages. Safety is our top priority at all times, so our crews will be on standby ready to restore power once we determine that their safety is not in danger due to the wind conditions. If you experience an outage during the storms, please call 1-877-456-8732. If you see a downed power line, stay away from the line and report it immediately. Just because a line is down does NOT mean it is not energized. Consumers with special needs, such as those using oxygen and other medically necessary equipment that requires power, should make plans to go to a location that has a backup power supply, such as a hospital.

We also recommend you have some nonperishable food items and a method of preparing food that does not require electricity. We appreciate your patience and understanding during these upcoming storms.
